Coppernight Hold

The First Quest!

Ralthior, Azaziel, and Norfir were approached by the town mayor regarding the kobold assault on Coppernight Hold, where Kavalar Coppernight and several dwarven excavators were uncovering ancient ruins in search of rare ores. The mayor sent two soldiers to investigate, but days went by, and there was no word from the soldiers. Eager to help Kavalar Coppernight and his dwarven enterprise, the three adventurers set forth towards the Coppernight Hold…

As the adventurers approached the excavation site, they readied their weapons, hearing faint voices nearby. One after another, the three traversed the high fence surrounding the perimeter. Ralthior fired the first shot, missing the kobold minion by a hair. Azaziel quickly jumped the fence, shifting into a white and pink wolf on landing. Azaziel pounced the minion, clawing him to death, then gazed across the site at the remaining enemies. Norfir followed behind Azaziel, casting a bolt of magic that shot across the site, taking out two more minions. The group proceeded to eradicate the rest of the guard outside the keep. One of the slingers managed to slip away down into the lair, alerting his allies below.

One by one, the three adventurers followed the cowardly kobold into the depths. In the middle of the hall, a defaced dwarven warrior statue stood teetering near some stronger kobold soldiers and a priest. The three engaged the enemies. Ralthior rushed forward and pushed the statue over onto one of the soldiers. After eliminating the soldiers, the priest used dragon breath on the party. Norfir was critically injured throughout the battle, but Azaziel utilized her healing skills and was able to keep everyone alive throughout. Weary and injured, the three managed to finish off the priest and take a brief rest.

Passing through the next hallway, the adventurers came across a prison they could see through the barred door. They could also hear faint dwarven grunts coming from the room. They burst through the door, picking off the two guards. Ralthior readies his bow and fires a full force arrow directly at the jailer. The kobold jailer turns around just in time to see the means of his death. The arrow pierces the kobold square between the eyes with such force that it clears his head clean off, sailing it across the hall and into the stone wall. The kobold’s head leans against the wall, eyes wide open in surprise, bleeding into a crimson puddle. The remainder of the kobold collapses into a pile of flesh.

Azaziel then picked up the key and released the dwarven prisoners. Kavalar Coppernight thanked the adventurers for lending their aid and stated that he would join forces with the three and avenge his fallen dwarven companions. Delighted by their enthusiasm, Kavalar the fighter, Kosar the wizard, and Norban the cleric join the three adventurers against the kobolds.

The six warriors make their way into the final chamber, where the white dragon wyrmling has made her nest. The battle was short yet fierce. Norban, not content with simply keeping everyone alive from the sidelines, decided to play hero. He struck a clean blow to the dragon, but the dragon viciously retaliated. Norban was mortally wounded, provoking the other adventurers to fighter even stronger than before. The team fought hard, cornering the dragon, and pelting her with a barrage of attacks. Ralthior planted arrows into her chest. Azaziel attacked her in a vicious fury. Norfir blasted her with lightning bolts. After many deadly attacks, Kosar eventually delivered the final blow: A perfectly placed fire bolt aimed at the wyrmlings throat, setting its scales aflame as the young dragon writhed in pain. The white dragon uttered a few words in commontongue before closing her eyes for the final time: “You don’t know what you’ve done. My brethren will hunt you down and avenge my death.”

With the keep clear of any reptilian enemies, Azaziel was finally able to stabilize Norban. Norban was grateful, and vowed never to play the hero again. The dwarves thank the adventurers for having helped them. They allow them to take any treasures that they have found in the excavation. Azaziel takes the Autumn Harvest Totem. Ralthior chooses the Flameburst Bow. And Norfir receives the Amulet of Protection. The total treasure they found on this short adventure totaled 1240gp which they split amongst themselves.

They now venture back towards the Kobold Hall. The previous battle was nothing compared to what lays in wait for them at the ruined manor. The true might of the kobolds has yet to be seen.
